About The Business Council

The Business Council’s origins date back to 1914, when the Associated Industries of New York State, Inc. was founded. This organization merged with the Empire State Chamber of Commerce in 1980 to form The Business Council of New York State, Inc. Today, as the state’s largest statewide employer association, we represent more than 3,000 private sector employers from across the state in manufacturing and all other significant segments of the state’s economy.

Our Mission

Our Mission

The Business Council is primarily an advocacy organization. Our lobbying team focuses on the New York State Legislature and its regulatory agencies, all of which impact the manufacturing sector. We provide all of our manufacturing members with continual updates on the changing legal requirements and regulatory compliance issues impacting their business.

Advocating for the Manufacuring Sector

Our unwavering advocacy efforts are centered on state laws and policies that impact manufacturers, a sector that continues to be a pillar of our economy, providing high-paying jobs and regionally significant economic activity across New York State. We firmly believe that New York can and should do more to bolster its industrial base, encourage new capital investment and re-investment in our existing manufacturing sector, support ongoing research and development efforts, and foster the retention and creation of high-paying jobs, instilling confidence and optimism in our shared future.
